Royal College of Nursing (RCN)
The RCN is a large, complex national organisation – and a major employer. Based at 22 different locations UK-wide, our team of more than 800 people work in a huge variety of different roles.
Many employees are former nurses or those from the healthcare profession. However, a significant proportion of our workforce come from other backgrounds – both inside and outside the public sector. These are just some of the areas we recruit to.

What our employees do
There are such a wide range of interesting career opportunities because of the broad nature of our work.
One aspect of our work is campaigning on key issues and lobbying government - using our credibility, experience and expertise to help shape healthcare policy.
In addition to campaigning and lobbying to bring about real improvements in the lives of nursing staff on the front line we promote excellence in practice. We support members' learning and development by maintaining one of the largest specialist nursing libraries in Europe, a wide selection of online courses and providing substantial development opportunities for both members and staff.
We also encourage our members to network and share knowledge through specialist nursing forums and a fortnightly bulletin.
Last but not least we offer confidential advice, information, counselling and support to our members on everything from careers and finance to employment issues and personal problems.
