About The Facility

The entire focus of our cancer unit, from the state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to leading drug development and treatment options, is centred on the needs of the individual patient. The Harley Street Clinic was the first in the UK to treat patients using a technology known as the CyberKnife robotic radiosurgery system. We have been treating patients with CyberKnife technology since 2009 and therefore have the most clinical experience in the UK.

We carry out highly specialist cancer surgery involving procedures in the following areas; Breast, Gynaecological, Colorectal, Upper gastro-intestine, Head and Neck, Hepatobiliary and Sarcoma

Salary: £39,174 - £45,419 + 9% enhancement for nights, evenings & weekend work.

Job Description

The sister/charge nurse is accountable and responsible for the care delivery and nursing management of the unit, including the supervision of staff and students. In order to achieve this the sister/charge nurse will work in a supervisory capacity and be expected to lead and manage team performance thus enhancing the patient experience, improving patient outcomes and contributing to the organisational priorities of improved patient flow, reduction in sickness levels and safe and effective deployment of the nursing workforce. The Senior sister/charge nurse will act as an exemplar role model delivering high standards of care and compassion at all times.

The role of the Staff Nurse will see you arranging and implementing individualised care plans for our patients. That will mean undertaking a variety of oncology interventions, closely monitoring patients and maintaining accurate records. You'll need excellent time management skills, as well as the ability to plan and prioritise care effectively.

We pride ourselves on taking a holistic approach to cancer care. So as well as meeting individual care plans, you will ensure we maintain a welcoming environment for the families of patients. That means you'll need not just strong communication skills, but also excellent interpersonal skills.

As well as your day-to-day clinical duties, you will also provide support to junior members of the team and help us to develop the department.

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to meet the patient and their family's needs

• Plan and deliver care for admissions and discharges

• Early recognition of clinical problems and report or take appropriate action

• Maintain accurate records

• Undertake extended roles such as venepuncture, cannulation and phlebotomy

• Initiate improvements and developments in clinical issues and delivery of care

• All ad hoc nursing duties as required by senior staff, including potential deputising for seniors in their absence

Skills & Experience

• NMC Registered Nurse (RN Adult)

• Experience in oncology/haematology is essential

• All applicants must be able to administer chemotherapy
