Job Description

Nuffield Health Chester, The Grosvenor Hospital, is currently searching for an established senior clinical leader to join our Hospital Management Team as Matron.

In this role you are ultimately responsible for ensuring your hospital provides safe and effective care to patients.

About Nuffield Health
At Nuffield Health, Matron-led care is one of our key differentiators. This role is highly visible, being the clinical lead with a passion for delivering care the way it should be. You will achieve this through effective operational management, inspirational leadership, and an unrelenting desire to improve clinical standards, care and services. You’ll need to maintain the excellent standards of clinical governance within the hospital whilst ensuring you are approachable and accessible to patients, relatives and colleagues.

About the role
You will be responsible for the delivery of a diverse range of surgical and medical interventions across a range of clinical functions including ward, theatre, outpatients, pharmacy, radiology, imaging, cardiology and pathology. You’ll be visible to patients, staff and Consultants and your strategic nursing experience will enable you to provide clinical strategy and direction for the Hospital.

Particularly important in this role will be your ability to quickly understand the clinical challenges facing the hospital, as well as being able to build excellent relationships with internal customers (such as Consultants) and external bodies, together with the ability to objectively review clinical practice and variances.  You will have a thorough understanding of relevant evidence-based practice and a track record of implementing these practices in a clinical setting. You are focused on improvement; thereby you will be comfortable managing change and will have an ability to empower your teams to adapt accordingly. You are confident challenging others, and importantly, you will be honest, open and engaging.

You will be a registered healthcare professional on the respective effective register (eg NMC / HCPC etc). You’ll have a progressive and well thought through career pathway, with clinical experience in at least one of the hospital’s specialties. You’ll also have a track record of relevant continuous professional development and will ideally have completed a recognised nursing leadership programme.

With a track record of achievement in managing, leading and developing nursing practice, you’ll have proven experience of line managing and leading clinical teams and services, as well as an in depth knowledge of the health care regulatory agenda and mechanisms. You know how to stabilise teams, re-engage and recognise them, driving standards of care and a passion for health.

As the UK’s largest not for profit healthcare organisation, Nuffield Health are unique, providing complete clinical, fitness and wellbeing services to people, communities, businesses and the NHS. We make a positive difference to the nation’s health.
