About The Facility

Located in the heart of London's esteemed medical district, the newly-refurbished Princess Grace Hospital offers a wide range of medical and surgical specialities. Supported by world-class doctors from leading London teaching hospitals, the hospital has 129 beds, including a purpose-built intensive care unit, catering for Level 3 patients. Our eight fully-equipped theatres include three laminar flow theatres for orthopaedic surgery and a robotic surgery suite along with some of the most advanced radiological diagnostic facilities in the country.

The Orthopaedics services at Princess Grace provide a multidisciplinary approach and offer surgical interventions such as arthroscopies, joint replacements, ligament reconstructions and specialised repair to nerves to improve movement and decrease pain and deformity.

Job Description

Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager, the Sister/Charge Nurse will be responsible for leading the clinical and the operational management of the Department by providing effective leadership and management to the team and providing ongoing support and mentorship to junior staff.

Salary between £39,174 and £45,419 dependant on experience

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating good clinical practice at all times and being accountable for own actions.
  • Prioritising workloads and directing staff accordingly.
  • Making efficient use of available resources with regard to budgetary constraints and clinical/ business objectives.
  • Promoting team working to maximise effectiveness of service delivery.
  • Evaluating the work of the team and ensuring standards are met.
  • Assisting in audit and quality assessment procedures.
  • Continually seeking to develop clinical skills and delivery of care methodologies to meet service user expectations.
  • Respecting and ensuring patients privacy and confidentiality.
  • Maximising revenue capture from patient care.
  • Leading on risk assessment and management, ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff and colleagues.
  • Supporting and acting as role model for junior staff.
  • Promoting a learning environment, assessing training needs and ensuring these are met.
  • Ensuring equipment is adequate and in good working order.
  • Maintaining accurate patient and staff records.
  • Assuming responsibility for the control storage and administration of drugs.
  • Being involved in projects as required.
  • Escalating any issues to the Clinical Nurse Manager as required.


Skills & Experience

  • RGN with current NMC PIN
  • Significant post-graduate experience
  • Management or supervisory experience
  • Mentorship qualification
  • Experience within an Orthopaedic setting
