Break in to prison healthcare!

Are you looking for a change in your nursing career?

Have you ever thought about working within the prison environment?

Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding role with career developments?

Then look no further…

Care UK is the Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.

These roles are available at our HMP YOI Swinfen Hall site near Lichfield.

HMP YOI Swinfen Hall, takes male offenders from across the country aged from 18-24 with sentences of four years or more. We are a new team working with a young patient group, giving us a great opportunity to help young people to engage in health and well-being, supporting the Prison’s efforts to improve their lives ready for release.
We have a healthcare centre based in the middle of the Prison, with treatment rooms on the wings. At Swinfen Hall we are working towards and integrated service with the Mental Health and Substance misuse teams so you will gain insight and training in Mental health and Substance Misuse.

The role will be an experience like no other requiring diverse and mixed nursing skills and background. One minute you could be delivering a chronic disease clinic and the next you are attending an emergency response.

To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP YOI Swinfen Hall, we’re looking for Bank Nurses to come and join our team.

Job requirements:

As an RGN 1 with valid NMC registration, you’ll bring a good knowledge of clinical governance and a real passion for taking your skills even further.

It goes without saying that you’ll have a solid understanding of health and safety, along with exemplary record keeping skills. Self-motivated and able to work autonomously, you’ll show plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations.

Beyond that, you should have a flexible approach and the ability to achieve changing priorities by managing your own time.

Further job information:

This is a Bank contract to work shifts as and when required, covering holidays and sickness etc.

The pay rate is a flat rate of £16.06 per hour.

Please note that this role is subject to Care UK Terms & Conditions and offers of employment are subject to satisfactory receipt of references, enhanced DBS check and prison vetting.

As a Bank Nurse within primary care, you can expect to be involved in everything from clinical triage to the evaluation and development of patient care and standards. You’ll carry out – and potentially develop – nurse-led clinics, reviewing patient histories, undertaking relevant examinations and tests, organising any necessary treatment and referring patients to other healthcare professionals when you need to. Across everything you do, you’ll maintain accurate records and provide the kind of helpful, empathetic support that will make every patient feel at ease.
