About You

A registered healthcare practitioner and an experienced educationalist and leader, you will have an excellent track-record of developing the student experience in a higher education setting. You will have an excellent reputation for outstanding management and leadership with great emotional intelligence, having led provision of a nursing and/or health professional academic programme, with its commensurate complexities with measurable excellence of outputs.

You will have a wealth of experience of curriculum development from concept through to delivery, graduation and alumni. You will live and breathe quality assurance and enhancement, being driven by the need to ensure equity and excellence of the curricula and ultimate student experience.  You will have a track record in research and scholarly activity, and strong evidence of achievements in enterprise. In undertaking your role, you will have a reputation for working collaboratively with colleagues in a clear, responsive and transparent manner.  

A creative, strategic thinker and an inspirational leader, you will be able to manage change at both a strategic and operational level. You will also be well organised, with excellent communication, networking and relationship-building skills.

About the Role

This role is based upon our excellent achievements and growth to date. We recognise the need to strengthen our nurse education department further in times of rapid change. This role spans across the nurse education portfolio, which have been ranked top in the country for practice-based learning in the National Student Survey. In order to achieve this we are seeking an exceptional individual to join us.

As Director of Nursing Education you will be a member of the senior management team and provide direction and leadership for the Head of Department: Nurse Education. Your role will be to provide strategic leadership to the department, working closely with Associate Deans and the Heads of Departments to enable continued enhancement of a contemporaneous curricula, leading cutting edge research and ultimately an excellent quality student experience. You will be the driving force in supporting the department in meeting the challenges of change within today’s dynamic and volatile health sector.

As such, you will strategically lead in delivering innovative learning and teaching, as well as high levels of student achievement and student satisfaction. Quality assurance and enhancement will determine much of your approach in this aspect.  In particular, you will ensure all educational programmes in the nurse education portfolio reflect current healthcare agendas, and provide high-profile research leadership. In cognisance of the clinical expectations of academic credibility within this area, a key feature of your role will be in leading and developing, in collaboration with the Faculty’s professoriate, the research development of the respective teams.

As part of the senior management team you will also be expected to utilise a progressive and responsive leadership style in meeting the needs of the nurse education area as well as in contributing positively to the innovative performance and development of the wider Faculty.
