If you can write high quality web information and are passionate about making a real difference to people with cancer, then join us as a Senior Patient Information Specialist.
Our Patient Information Web Team has completely redesigned our award winning website to provide more personalised online information for anyone affected by cancer. We receive 1.4 million visitors a month, making it one of the most visited cancer information websites in the world, who come for information providing detailed but easily accessible information on cancer, its treatments and clinical trials for anyone affected by cancer.
What is the role?
We're looking for a self-motivated individual to...
- Provide clinical expertise on all aspects of cancer including diagnosis, treatment and care
- Review and update existing copy
- Produce new information about cancer, its treatment and living with cancer as identified through the editing process, including visual content.
- Write plain English summaries of clinical trials and results for CRUK's clinical trials database
- Ensure that information is factually correct and written in our plain English house style to the standards currently established on the site

- Experience working in oncology with a specialist oncology qualification
- Understanding of the information needs of cancer patients and their family and friends
- Aptitude for translating medical information into lay language for the general public
- Experience in explaining clinical trials to patients or potential participants
- Extensive knowledge of cancer and of process for setting up and running clinical trials in the UK
- Demonstrable evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills
