If the answer is yes we have a number of posts in the UK at NHS Band 7 for appropriately registered (NMC, HCPC, BABCP) Mental Health Professionals within military Departments of Community Mental Health (DCMH).

Our chosen candidates will provide flexible and individualised care packages to meet the mental health needs of military personnel. This will include providing clinical expertise in mental healthcare delivery, advanced practice and specialist knowledge in support of the individual and executive.

They will demonstrate strong and effective leadership acting as a resource for others through modelling, mentorship, supervision, education and facilitation, helping to equip nurses for their role in care delivery. You will provide expert advice and liaison, developing and using effective relationships to educate, contribute/inform research, and support the patient, their families and carers. Exercise a high degree of professional autonomy and critical judgement; make professionally autonomous decisions by utilising knowledge, skill and attitudes gained through study, experience, and by maintaining competencies via medical/nursing supervision.

They will be part of the DCMH Multidisciplinary Team, ensuring a cohesive transfer and allocation of patients for assessment or treatment. Patients are predominately referred to the DCMH by General Practitioners. The MDT will screen the referral for clinical suitability and triage the referral. Following assessment the clinician will formulate a robust clinical risk assessment that is produced in a timely manner as per local policies, based on an understanding of the occupational role and needs of individuals, ensuring a safe and effective interface using evidenced based first line interventions and treatments based on NICE guidelines. This will be supported by sign-posting to relevant supporting services.

The initial assessment will include the use of a number of assessment tools.

For the posts at Cranwell and Marham, it is desirable for the candidate to work at both locations but is not essential.

This is a national campaign; there may not be immediate vacancies in all areas however a reserve list will be kept for up to 12 months.
