We have an excellent opportunity for a Staff Nurse to join our ICU unit in the South building at The Wellington Hospital in St Johns Wood, London (NW8 6PD)

Our ICU comprises of a total of 35 beds dedicated to the care of level 3 patients. Split into two units, we are expertly equipped to deal with General, Cardiac and Neuro ICU patients. This year we are seeing expansion of one of our units including a High Dependency Unit.

The Wellington South Critical Care Unit cares for Neurological and general patients and has a total 15 ITU beds and 7 HDU beds.


Job Description

As a Staff Nurse you will join a specialist team of physicians, surgeons and nurses and you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, to meet the needs of the patient and family/carers.

  • Job Type: Full time post, permanent role.
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
  • Shift Pattern: 5 hour shifts - 8am to 8:30pm or 8pm to 8:30am (Rotation and flexibility required for days, nights and weekends)
  • Salary: £31,630 - £35,822 per annum plus 9% shift enhancement.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work well within a team, supervising and directing junior staff and deputising for Senior Staff Nurses in their absence, always ensuring that patient care is at a consistently high level.
  • To provide a high standard of holistic centred care.
  • To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Initiate improvements and developments in clinical issues and delivery of care.
  • Contributing to the ongoing research based care and other practice development initiatives.



Skills & Experience

  • Registered General Nurse with NMC pin.
  • General Critical Care/ITU/ICU specific skills.
  • Cardiac surgery experience would be advantageous.
  • Motivated and forward thinking individual with excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
