Support us, as we bring ambition to life

At Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust we’ve got high ambitions. We want to be the best integrated care provider by 2020, providing outstanding levels of service to the 500,000 patients who rely on us every single year. That gives us just over two years to make our goal a reality. Having trebled our training budget and put measures in place to create greater levels of service integration, we’re determined to meet this challenge. And with your help, we know we can do it.

As our Chief Nurse and a member of the Executive Board, you will provide clear leadership to the nursing and midwifery teams across the Trust. Advising on the quantity and quality of clinicians needed to deliver compassionate care in our new hospital which is due to open in 2019, your no-nonsense approach to safety will put the patient at the heart of everything we do. Implementing technology (such as our new patient tracking system) and supporting community-led care, you’ll set standards that other Trusts will seek to emulate. Inspiring a culture of innovation, you will lead by example with your meticulous nursing standards. A crucial element to this role will also be continuing our work with the local Universities to ensure a continuous pipeline of talent. We want the best people to join us and stay with us – and you’ll make that happen. Ensuring their skills are being fully developed and utilised, we’ll be ready for whatever the future holds.

We’re at an exciting stage of our development, so to thrive in a role of this magnitude, you’ll be ready to get to grips with a fast-paced challenge. As a senior Registered Nurse with considerable experience of managing at scale, you will come from a background in which you were at Chief, Deputy or Director level. Your experience could be in any sector such as acute, community or mental health nursing – what is more crucial, is that you’re able to work with the level of passion that you’d expect of a Trust than has an income of £500million per year. You’ll need good budgeting capabilities, with the confidence to inspire change and improvement. With an understanding of the external politics of the NHS, your fantastic people management and communication skills will take us to the next level.

A natural leader who is looking to step up to the next big adventure, we’ll provide you with plenty of support (including one-to-one sessions with the CEO) to ensure you’re achieving your goals. We value your input, so we’ll make sure you reap the rewards of your hard work. Starting with a generous salary, plus a host of outstanding employee benefits and a highly-desirable inflation-adjusted pension, we’ve got your future covered. So join us, and we’ll bring your ambition to life.
