About the Job

The Healthcare team at HMP Foston Hall are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic mental health nurse to join our friendly team. This is an exciting time for the department and you will be fully integrated into the team. You will assist the Clinical Lead in developing and implementing Care UK’s Wellbeing Approach. The role will involve assessing, signposting and care coordinating patients that are referred from a variety of sources including wing staff and probation, and will include patients that may present with complex mental health problems, psychosomatic disorders as well as a variety of psychological issues relating to physical disorders. You will be required to work within the healthcare team to provide a holistic care pathway, within the Care UK Wellbeing Approach. As a Mental Health Nurse, you will be required to work within the wider multidisciplinary team within the prison establishment, including Safer Custody, Probation and Governors. To be able to carry out this role we are looking for someone with previous experience of working with people with severe and enduring mental health problems as well as low level mental health problems. Every day will bring new challenges and new experiences. But at the same time, you’ll have all the support you need to deliver the best care possible.

About you

You will be a qualified Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever changing. You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service. You should possess a good working knowledge of conducting risk assessments and care planning as well as someone who is creative and forward thinking to work through the issues that may arise in this challenging but exciting environment. Knowledge in therapeutic interventions such as CBT or Steps to Wellbeing are desirable but transferable clinical skills will be considered with appropriate training provided. If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!

Further Job Information

This is a full-time vacancy, working 37.5 hours per week but we would also consider part-time applications. We welcome informal visits to the prison but these must be booked in advance. The salary range is £24000 - £31000 per annum - dependent on experience.
