An opportunity has arisen for a passionate Mental Health Nurse to join our Inpatients team at HMYOI Feltham. HMYOI Feltham is a Young Offenders Institute for young people aged 15-18 and young adults aged 18-21. HMYOI is accessible via Bus and Train links and also provides onsite parking for staff.

About the Job

You'll provide a holistic package of care to patients within the prison system, managing the assessment of health needs; planning, delivery and evaluation of care, for the prison population, including clinical risk assessment. Nursing in prison is never dull or predictable. On any given day the skills you use may be similar to those you need working in health promotion or A&E, alternatively you may be supporting people to manage their mental health or substance misuse. It’s this variety that keeps things fresh and stimulating. Every day will bring new challenges and new experiences. But at the same time, you’ll have all the support you need to deliver the best care possible.

The Job Requirements

You will be a qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever changing. You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service. If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you! Newly qualified applications can be considered and the salary will be discussed. A full job description is available on request.

About Care UK

Care UK is the Health in Justice market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Having been awarded the contract to deliver NHS services at Bullingdon, we are very excited about the opportunities to develop our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. The circumstances that bring people to prison are also complex and varied, our wellbeing approach adopts the premise no single factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.
