Job Details

The skilled healthcare professionals who join the team at Jersey share a common goal – they’re passionate about making a difference to our local communities. Putting the patient at the heart of everything they do, they enjoy a level of career satisfaction that’s hard to imagine elsewhere. Quite simply, the States of Jersey Health and Social Services Department are independent – meaning we’re entirely free of NHS jurisdiction. As an integrated healthcare provider, we strive to offer a seamless service, in which linked-up solutions are encouraged – and in the process, we encourage our staff to rediscover their enthusiasm for their important work.

Joining our small but mighty multi-disciplinary team, you will provide invaluable support to people who are struggling with alcohol and drug misuse. From the very first time they come into contact with the service, throughout clinic or community-based treatments and beyond, you will be by their side as they take steps to overcoming their addictions. Devising a plan of action and monitoring the effectiveness of these evidence-based treatments, you will also assess risks, ensuring your clients have all the support they could possibly need from partnership agencies. And to ensure you remain at the forefront of industry knowledge, we’ll provide you with plenty of training and development opportunities too.

As you will often deliver treatments involving methadone and buprenorphine to opiate-dependent clients, you will need to have at least four years of post-qualification nursing experience, with experience of delivering addiction interventions. It would be ideal if you have non-medical prescribing qualifications and experience (such as NMC V300 Nurse prescribing, CBT or DBT qualifications), but what is more important is that you are a creative team-player with fantastic communication skills and the compassion to understand the needs of those who are under your care. If you have a degree in addictions or an interest in further post-graduate learning, that would be even better.

Our people are so important so with support from day one, you’ll have everything you need to make the move and start changing the lives of others, and your own. We’ll provide you with a generous relocation package (£8,000), support with a deposit and first month’s rent through our Deposit Advance Scheme, as well as continual training and development opportunities and the freedom to really rediscover why you love what you do, and who you are.

Make the move to Jersey today and see why this is care rediscovered.

Company

Covering an area of 45 square miles and with a resident population just over 100,000, Jersey is the largest and most southerly of the Channel Islands. And our Health and Social Services aim to improve the health and wellbeing of Islanders through the delivery of high quality, person focused health and social care.

To meet these goals, our staff are working with our voluntary, community and independent sector partners, including those in Primary Care, to continue to transform and develop services in line with our vision as described in ‘A New Way Forward for Health and Social Care’.

Following a period of service redesign and significant investment, we now need experienced and motivated people to help us realise our collective ambition and play an active part in delivering  within our community mental health teams.

Jersey is an island community built on care and it’s why we look out for, and after one another so well. This is your chance to make the move, start a new adventure and rediscover why you love what you do, and who you are. This is care rediscovered.
