We have an exciting opportunity for a Matron to join The Wilmslow Hospital and lead our Nursing and Theatre services across the facility in Wilmslow (SK9 1NY).

Job Description

As a Matron you will be a key member of the senior management team and report into the Chief Nursing Officer. You will oversee the running of the Outpatients, Pre-Assessment & Theatre departments, providing nursing leadership and direction for all nursing/clinical staff across the services. • Job Type: Permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours per week). • Location: Wilmslow, SK9 1NY. • Salary: Highly competitive salary plus HCA benefits package. • Benefits: Structured career development, pension, private medical cover and much more.

Duties & Responsibilities

• To provide operational management through the effective line management of 2 direct reports (Outpatients & Theatre Manager) and you will have overall accountability for approx. 23 staff across the services. • Act as a role model, leading by example to ensure strong clinical leadership with authority to change practice and improve care for patients and families. • To be a visible, accessible and assertive figure to whom nursing staff, patients and the multidisciplinary team can turn to for assistance, advice and support. • To audit standards of clinical practice and support the clinical audit process. • Ensure that the strategic objectives of The Wilmslow Hospital are reflected in service plans and individual objectives. • Monitor and contribute to the design of department budgets and review budgets to ensure it is in line with targets. • To take responsibility for the process of recruitment of clinical & theatre staff as well as ensure all staff within designated teams have a personal development plan that match the needs of the service.

Skills & Experience

• Registered nurse with relevant experience within outpatient, theatres or day surgery services. • Substantial clinical management and team leadership experience at Matron or Ward Manager level. • Management qualification/training. • Evidence of research based practice implemented and managed effectively. • An enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills and a track record of building effective working relationships with all users of the service, including consultants, managers, patients, staff and visitors. • Motivated and forward thinking individual with the ability to deal tactfully and sensitively with any issues of conflict, as well as identify problems and resolve them promptly to everyone’s satisfaction.
