Job Description

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide and manage an expert specialist nursing service, they will give expert nursing advice and support to patients, their families/carers and other healthcare professionals.

They will be a defined point of contact for patients, their families/carers and other healthcare professionals and also assess patients’ health, health related and nursing needs and identify and initiate appropriate steps for effective care.

This is a full time post, 37.5 hours per week with typical shifts being 9-5pm. Some flexibility will be required in working outside of these hours when liaising with consultants.

Salary: £40-50k per annum, dependant on experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

• The Lung Clinical Nurse Specialist/Specialist Nurse (CNS/SN) provides clinical expertise to all the relevant departmental teams
• They are responsible and accountable for their own practice within the clinical area and for delivering a quality service to all stakeholders within HCA
• They are responsible for identifying areas of their service for development; then implementing and evaluating change using current research, audit and experience.
• To achieve the highest possible standard of nursing care that balances customer satisfaction with the most efficient use of resources.
• Work independently to support our patients, Consultants, nursing teams and Allied Health Professionals within their defined scope of practice.
• To be an educational resource to both patients and their families/carers and all clinical staff
• They proactively promote their service within HCA, participating in relevant forums.

Skills & Experience

• First level Registered General Nurse
• First level degree in related subject or undertaking a degree pathway
• Post-basic qualification in clinical specialty related to practice area.
• Evidence of continued professional development
• Relevant post registration experience
• Experience of teaching
• Ability to support and influence change
• Ability to impart complex information to patients, relatives and carers, with different levels of understanding
