Break into prison healthcare!

If you are looking for a challenging and rewarding nursing role and want to develop your skills in an environment where no two days are the same then this could be the new job for you! HMP Foston Hall are recruiting for a mental health nurse to take on the role of CARE facilitator. We offer a salary of up to £30,000 per annum depending on experience, plus other benefits including 25 days annual leave plus 8 public bank holiday days, as well as access to bank hours, CPD and re-validation. HM Prison Foston Hall is a woman’s closed category prison and Young Offenders Institution, located in the village of Foston in Derbyshire

About the role -

CARE stands for Choices, Actions, Relationships and Emotions. It is an accredited offending behavior intervention for women in prison with a history of violence who have complex needs. It aims to better understand and reduce the risk that these women may potentially pose to themselves and others and to live a more full filling and pro-social life. For this group of women engaging and benefiting from treatment may be very difficult. CARE is therefore motivational and carefully constructed so that the style, content and sequencing of the programme is accessible and engaging for participants. These include issues related to mental health, personality disorder, substance misuse, self-harm and suicide. CARE builds on strengths as well as addressing problems and provides participants with the opportunity to identify and work towards a new, successful and pro-social life.

Job Requirements

You will be a qualified registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever changing. You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service. In terms of experience - • An appropriate post graduate professional qualification in Mental Health Nursing • Experience of working with women in either a mental health and/or criminal justice setting. It is also desirable that prospective CARE facilitators have experience of delivering accredited group work interventions. If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!
