Job Details

NHS Dumfries and Galloway is a small but vibrant rural Health Board in South-West Scotland which covers a large geographical area of about 2,400 square miles and serves a population of approximately 150,000. The boundaries stretch from Langholm in the East to Drummore in the West, and from Kirkconnel and Carsphairn in the North down to Sandyhills on the Solway Coast. We employ around 4,500 staff excluding GPs and Dentists.

The region is home to an abundance of rare wildlife, lush green forests and sandy beaches, many of which form part of the UNESCO Biosphere covering Galloway and Southern Ayrshire. Galloway Forest Park is the UK’s first, and Western Europe’s largest, Dark Sky Park.

Tissue Viability Nurse (608.18) Band 7: £32,974 - £43,471

This Tissue Viability Nurse post is new in Dumfries and Galloway and offers a fantastic opportunity to design and develop the TV support in the region.

The specialist nurse will be accountable for developing the Tissue Viability Service and provide specialist expert advice at strategic and operational level to promote patient centred quality care across Dumfries and Galloway. The postholder will be supported by a motivated group of link nurses, pharmacists, podiatrists and dieticians.

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of tissue viability issues and the impact of this as well as a post basic qualification/portfolio of evidence in tissue viability and wound management to Masters Level or equivalent.

Based with the Community Health and Social Care Directorate, the post will cover the whole region and is a great opportunity to influence the development of services for patients in Dumfries and Galloway.
