Assistant Housemistress - Moscow

Our client opens its doors to gifted and talented students in September 2018 and aims to be at the forefront of excellent Boarding education within the Russian Federation. They have high expectations and seek enthusiastic and ambitious candidates for roles within the Boarding and Pastoral department who will be willing to working in a supportive and exciting new environment, dedicated to our students care, happiness and success. They are fully committed to professional development on a global scale and application is currently sought for an Assistant Housemistress, on a renewable 1-year contract basis.

The focus of this role is pastoral; time will be spent speaking to the girls and helping them cope with the myriad demands of a boarding school life. Flexibility is key the right candidate must have impeccable credentials and significant experience of working in a similar school environment. The successful applicant will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to assist with the day-to-day management of the boarding house. Job description

Working with students:
Provide a safe, comfortable environment within the boarding house to ensure health and safety of students at all times
Show non-intrusive interest in all aspects of student's school life, passing on any discipline issues to the Housemaster/mistress
Be available at all times for students to communicate and in private ensuring any disclosures are immediately passed onto the Head of Boarding/Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in line with the School Safeguarding policy
Ensure daily routines for students is maintained, particularly wake up, mealtimes & bedtimes
Ensure health and safety is a priority in the common living rooms
Ensure linen changes are undertaken on a weekly basis as per rota
In association with the Housemaster/mistress ensure tidiness of student's rooms are checked and monitored, reporting any issues
To monitor student dress code and issues of cleanliness, reporting any concerns
Accompany students to the School Medical Centre
Maintain homely remedy log and administer homely remedies as required

Working with Housemaster, other staff & parents:
Ensure timely reporting of any student issues to the Housemaster/mistress with any serious issues immediately to the Head of Boarding
Attend daily meeting with Housemaster/mistress to ensure effective communication is maintained
Attend regular Boarding and Pastoral meetings as required by the Head of Boarding
Report any signs of student behaviour, health or welfare issues are reported immediately to the Housemaster/mistress with any serious issues immediately to the Head of Boarding/ DSL
Cover for the Housemaster/mistress on days off or other absences
Communicate with parents in consultation with the Housemaster/mistress, if necessary
To contribute to the induction arrangements for students with other staff
Working within the boarding house:
Participate fully in the life of the boarding house including induction
Ensure cleanliness, health and safety issues are reported immediately to the Operations team
Be available to escort external service personnel
Sleep in the boarding house when on duty, informing the Housemaster/mistress when offsite
Along with other staff ensure the House is ready to receive students at the beginning of each semester
Contribute to the end of semester clearing up, cleaning schedules & room checks reporting issues to the Operations team
