Support patients and their carers throughout their cancer pathway, providing education and clinical expertise to help them self-manage their ongoing symptoms.
A sub-tropical island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes in the South Atlantic with a warm and friendly population of 4,500, St Helena is a self-governing overseas territory of the UK. It’s now poised for transformation with the recent opening of a brand new international airport offering scheduled commercial air access. The 28-bed General Hospital in the capital, Jamestown, covers all areas of acute medical and surgical care.
Helping to improve current screening programmes you will administer chemotherapy and help local nurses in learning to do so. Within the hospital you will support screening, palliative care and chemotherapy services. You must champion and contribute to health directorate KPI’s for the oncology service in order to provide evidence of productivity, outcomes and quality, requiring you to manage change within a complex environment. You will also help to develop patient focused education, providing survivorship support following curative cancer treatment.
A Registered Nurse, Level 1, with relevant post-registration supervisory or management experience, you will hold a 1st level degree. Chemotherapy administration trained, you will have a background in palliative care with oncology knowledge. Able to support and influence change and with experience of audit you can work autonomously and show a flexible attitude. You will need emotional resilience to manage exposure to dying people and family distress.
We offer an extensive benefits package with 30 days leave pa, fare paid travel, freight, pension contribution and relocation allowance (see overseas vacancy information). An application form can be found at www.sthelenacareers.com where further information can also be found, or you may contact Kedell Worboys on 0203 818 7610 or email: shgukrep@sthelenagov.com. This is where applications must be sent and received by 03 October 2018. Interviews will be held in London
