Our Oncology ward is an 18 bedded unit which provides high quality care to patients in first class private rooms with the latest in innovative treatments and cutting edge technology. We treat a range of different types of cancer and conditions; including Cancer Care, Gastro, Gynaecological, Skin, Liver/HPB Cancers as well as Breast Care

Job Description

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will work as a core member of the multi-disciplinary team using your clinical expertise to co-ordinate high quality care and treatment of patients from point of entry, through diagnostic studies, diagnosis and treatment plan for cancer through survivorship. You will also provide a specialist support service for patients under the care of the Oncologist at the Leaders in Oncology (LOC) located at the Wellington’s Platinum Medical Centre.

This is a full time role working 37.5hrs per week Monday – Friday hours between 8am – 4.30pm – needs to be flexible around these daily hours.   

The attractive and competitive salary for this role is between £45,754 - £50,330.

Duties & Responsibilities

• To act as a role model and provide supervision in the clinical area demonstrating advanced clinical specialist skills in order to provide the highest standard of care
• Support patients who undergo treatment either as an inpatient, day case or outpatient. The patients may be having staging investigations, surgery, chemotherapy/hormonal therapy or radiotherapy
• Promoting the educational programme within the hospital working closely with and supporting our nursing teams, Consultants and other Healthcare Professionals
• Responsible for the fitting of prosthesis and referral of patients to appropriate departments associated with their disease
• To assist in audit of the inpatient service, and then act on results to continually monitor and develop the service
• Act in a supportive role to all clinical staff, offering advice, support and resources to assist them in their clinical practice and development of specialist knowledge

Skills & Experience

• Registered Nurse with extensive Oncology experience.
• Experience at a CNS, Sister/Charge Nurse or Senior Nurse level with extensive relevant post registration experience.
• Oncology/Cancer/Palliative care qualification.
• Recognised teaching qualification or evidence of Masters level learning would be advantageous.
• Confident decision maker, with a focus on improvement and development.
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills as well as a high level of clinical, technical and research skills.
