Team Manager (Adult & Communities)

Location: St Helena, South Atlantic Tropical Island

Salary: c £45,000 with overseas tax advantages

Description: This hospital is based on a sub-tropical island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes in the South Atlantic with a warm and friendly population of 4,500. St Helena is a self-governing overseas territory of the UK. It’s now poised for transformation with the recent opening of a brand new international airport offering scheduled commercial air access. The 28-bed General Hospital in the capital, covers all areas of acute medical and surgical care.

As the professional lead in casework involving abuse or situations involving a need for professional social work advice around persons with a disability, you will develop and implement training programmes and procedures currently provided through UK distance learning courses.

Managing change and having ownership of budgets and contracts, you will review and develop training protocols to support multi-agency work with Police, Health, Education and Voluntary Agencies. This means taking a lead role in developing partnerships with multi-agency organisations. As you develop an operational delivery plan and lead your team in developing a service plan, you will recruit, select, lead and motivate staff, sustaining a strong performance culture.

This is a two year fixed term contract!

Person Specification: A qualified social worker, CQSW/DipSW or equivalent, you must have current registration with the Health Care Professions Council or eligibility for an associated body in another country. Having substantial practice experience in social work with a significant element of safeguarding adults, you will have a background in leading a safeguarding/social work team. With up to date knowledge and recent practical experience of working as a social worker with case load responsibility in safeguarding Adults, you must have significant experience involving work engaging people in and from community settings
