Location: St Helena, South Atlantic Tropical Island
Salary: c £40,000 with overseas tax advantages
Description: This hospital is based on a sub-tropical island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes in the South Atlantic with a warm and friendly population of 4,500. St Helena is a self-governing overseas territory of the UK. It’s now poised for transformation with the recent opening of a brand new international airport offering scheduled commercial air access. The 28-bed General Hospital in the capital, covers all areas of acute medical and surgical care.
With keen independent judgment of service needs and operational response, you will make key strategic recommendations.
You will direct primary care, community health, allied health, and public health services delivered by a multi-disciplinary staff. Recommending, developing and monitoring goals, objectives, policies and priorities, you must allocate resources accordingly. Your ongoing analysis of operations will ensure community needs are met and opportunities identified for service improvement. Overseeing the development of local guidelines, protocols, and policies for community health services, you will ensure compliance with laws, regulations and professional standards. Undertaking resource and operational planning, you must take ownership of training, supervision and professional development.
This is a two year fixed term contract!
Person Specification: You will have operational delivery and management experience in a community healthcare or primary care setting, with appropriate accredited qualification. Your experience in public health, primary care and community health service management will be supported by technical knowledge plus project and programme management and resource allocation skills. You should have a background in decision-making, presenting ideas, planning, assigning and co-ordinating work. An adept communicator, you will build relationships as you nurture your staff and develop community health programmes, monitoring outcomes.
