Occupational Health Practice Nurse

The Occupational Health Service at the University of Essex aims to:
- prevent work-related ill health
- facilitate rehabilitation and return to work following periods of illness or injury
- promote physical and mental health and wellbeing
Occupational Health (OH) actively promotes and maintains good health in the University workplace as well as providing support when health issues occur.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Practice Nurse to join a busy Occupational Health team providing an extensive service to the University of Essex.
Duties of the role
We are looking to appoint a full-time Practice Nurse to take responsibility for delivering, in partnership with the rest of the Occupational Health (OH) team, a high quality, consistent and professional service including; deliverance of a vaccination programme supporting students in placement and a phlebotomy programme, health surveillance of staff groups, DSE and workstation assessments and health and wellbeing promotion across all three campuses.
In addition you will be required to ensure accurate OH records are maintained and confidentiality requirements observed, make appropriate referrals where required and evaluate the engagement and effectiveness of any health promotion initiative undertaken.
Qualifications and skills required
The successful candidate will have attended a recognised phlebotomy training course and vaccination training course and hold valid competency certificates, along with being a qualified registered Nurse and having a current registration with the NMC.
Previous experience of coordinating vaccination programmes and a thorough understanding and working knowledge of immunisation schedules are essential for this post, along with possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and build confidence and rapport quickly.
