Sister/Charge Nurse

Band 6 (£28,050 - £36,644 pa/pro rata)

Tooting Donor Centre

Ref: 918-BN3853

Have you ever thought about where the blood that you transfuse comes from? Are you thinking of taking a new direction in your nursing career? Looking for a change? If so come and work for us.

We save lives but we don’t work in hospitals. No two days are the same in this fast moving and variable environment. We collect blood from donors in Donor Centres and also travel to where our donors are in mobile teams.

As a Session Sister/Charge Nurse in this autonomous role, you will lead and motivate a team of donor carers (similar to Health Care Support staff), use your clinical judgement to make safe decisions about suitability and ensure your team deliver a high standard of care that enables us to meet our regulatory and governance requirements. We need your leadership and management skills to ensure that patients receive safe blood and blood products and our donors feel safe and cared for. By giving the best experience we can for our donors, you will ensure they will want to return time and time again.

No prior specialist knowledge is required for this band 6 role, we value what you bring. If you are able to work independently, lead with compassion and resilience, excited by the prospect of enabling change in a fast moving environment, then this is the job for you. We will provide all the training and support you will need with excellent learning and development opportunities and career progression. Though you must be a Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration (which must be maintained) as Registered Nurse – Adult.

The shift pattern for this role is around 7 days per fortnight working up to 52.5 hours over these days. The earliest start time would be approx 8:00am with a finish time of approx 16:15pm, if on a late shift you would be finishing at approx 21:00pm.

You will receive a higher cost area supplement of 20%, alongside 5% RRP allowance.

An informal visit is highly recommended. To arrange an informal discussion about this role please contact Christine St Romaine at Christine.StRomaine@nhsbt.nhs.uk or on 07872 636 738.

This advert will close at 23:59pm on 30th January 2019.
