Job Details

Want to be a part of the only Emergency Department in the UK dedicated to the elderly?  Want to work in more than just a frailty unit attached to an ED?  Then we have the role for you.

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is recruiting staff with a passion for caring for Older People as we celebrate the 1 year anniversary of our revolutionary new service. Our continued work on Frailty identification and intervention has seen a significant redesign of our services over the last year, leading to the creation of a dedicated Older Peoples ED (OPED), for patients of 80 years and over. OPED  identifies Frailty and expedites tailored expert intervention between the hours of 8am-8pm with consultant geriatrician supervision alongside a rapid MDT way of working.

We have seen in the last year, a significant decrease in our ED conversion rates for frail elderly, and a concomitant drop in our hospitals average length of stay.

This ground breaking scheme is the first in the UK and is delivering a dynamic service that meets the needs of an ever growing part of the population.

Now that the service is established we are looking to add to our team of Registered Nurses. This role offers an exciting and challenging opportunity to work alongside a highly skilled and passionate team as we look forward to the future development and expansion of OPED.

The successful applicant will benefit from a structured development plan and further educational opportunities as we encourage each and every member of staff to achieve their full potential.
