Job Description

Due to exciting expansion plans across London we are seeking to recruit a number of experienced Occupational Health Nurses experienced in dealing with work-based patients health and well-being relating care needs, to be based directly onsite at our corporate clients premises. This is a full time position however substantial part time may be considered. Hours: Services hours between 0830 - 1700 hrs. Duties & Responsibilities

Undertake an on-site Occupational Health (“OH”) service at the Firm including Roodlane’s telephone-based sickness absence recording. To assist in the coordination and delivery of the Occupational Health (OH) services for the client. The post holder will be working closely with an Occupational Health Manager (OHM) and Occupational Health Advisors and will be responsible for providing pre-placement medical reviews, staff vaccination programme and case management.  Assessment of on-line pre-employment questionnaires with escalation to Roodlane doctors where necessary.  Perform sickness absence management reviews, where necessary, of employees “red flagged” by the sickness absence recording service or directly referred from Human Resources or line managers (e.g. psychiatric, work-related conditions, musculo-skeletal conditions and long-term absence).  Discuss and escalate cases to OH Physician as required.  Facilitate, under the supervision of the OH Physician, the safe rehabilitation and resettlement of employees returning from absences. This will include verbal or written communication with external agencies with appropriate regard to medical confidentiality e.g. General Practitioners and Specialists.  Supply guidance, on the request of Human Resources (“HR”) and within the confines of employee consent protocols, regarding any underlying health issues that could be significant in their management of persistent or intermittent short-term sickness absence cases.  Conduct regular “HR surgeries” to discuss relevant cases.  Contribute, facilitate and ensure, at both a Firm and individual level, that the maximum appropriate use and access is made of the Firm’s benefits structure e.g. PMI, EAP  Assist in the implementation of active health promotion and wellbeing programmes and contribute to any pro-active health training programs within the Firm.  Remain proactive and relevant to the business population in health promotion activities.  Create and maintain suitable, adequate OH records and ensure their secure and confidential custody in accordance with NMC guidelines.

Skills and Experience

Qualifications and Experience  Registered General Nurse – or equivalent (part 1 of NMC Register).  Registered on part 3 of NMC Register (Occupational Health)  Educated to at least degree level (desirable)  At least 5 years of demonstrable OH experience required; in a multi-disciplinary organization in either the public or private sector (experience within the healthcare and corporate sectors advantageous).  Competent in all aspects of sickness absence case management, health surveillance and fitness for work assessments.  Knowledge of the principles, tools, techniques and developments in OH sector.  Knowledge & experience of clinical governance within an OH setting.  IT literacy is essential and knowledge of Microsoft Office & Excel.
