Staff Nurse (band 5) NHS AfC: Band 5

We are always looking for enterprising and innovative approaches to the way we provide our services. We are a national centre for telemedicine and introduced telehealth to the UK offender healthcare sector and also provide the service to patients in their care homes. Community matters to us and we are supported by 400 dedicated volunteers and have strong links with Bradford University, Craven College and Leeds City College to ensure we inspire the workforce of the future.

*Applicants must already hold their NMC PIN Number however applications are welcome from student nurses who would initially work as a Senior Healthcare Support Worker until NMC registration is received**

We have vacancies in the following areas:

Cardiology: Our new Cardiology unit (Ward 1) is a 12 bedded coronary care unit which has 4 critical care monitored beds and 8 inpatient beds. Ward 1 works closely with the cardiac catheter lab, LGI and Cardiologists to deliver high quality and timely treatments to patients medical or surgical. AAU – Acute Assessment Unit: AAU is our new unit located in close proximity to the Emergency Department and incorporates 43 acute assessment beds for orthopaedics, general surgery and medicine, a 5 trolley assessment bay to support the expansion of our Ambulatory Care services, 4 clinic rooms and space for relatives to stay (with their family or in a separate space). Elderly: Ward 4 is a 30 bedded complex care unit which specialises in Dementia. The ward won ward of the year in 2016 at the Pride of Airedale awards and is committed to ensuring patients are well looked after and are always striving to improve patient care.

Stroke: Ward 5 is a 22 bedded Stroke Rehabilitation Ward that specialises in Stroke and Neurology care. Ward 5 is part of a multidisciplinary team composed of Specialist Consultant Doctors in Stroke, Neurology and Rehabilitation, a Stroke Specialist Nurse, Speech and Language team, Dieticians, Occupation Therapists, Physiotherapist and our caring and compassionate nursing team made up of trained nurses and healthcare support workers. Gastroenterology/Endocrinology/Elderly:Ward 6 is a 30 bed acute medical with a mixed speciality of Elderly Medicine, Gastroenterology and Endocrinology. The ward has been upgraded to promote a Dementia friendly environment and also to enhance the patient’s recovery.

Respiratory: Ward 7 is a 22 bedded acute respiratory ward which cares for patients with a variety of lung conditions such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV), Asthma, Lung fibrosis and TB including patients stepping down from ICU/HDU.They have strong links with both respiratory nurse specialists and community staff who work closely with all members of our MDT to provide quality care and treatment for our patients. Gynaecology: Ward 13 is the female surgical ward including General Surgery, Urology and Gynaecology. This is a 29 bedded ward with a dedicated gynaecology assessment bed. Patients are on elective care pathways where the enhanced recovery programme is paramount to their recovery. The patients are also admitted directly with gynaecology issues to the ward and also surgical patients come from the new Acute Assessment Unit. For further information, please call 01535 292131.

Surgical Assessment Unit: Ward 14. There are 6 dedicated surgical assessment beds on the ward and the remaining beds are predominantly male surgical and urological patients. Patients are on elective care pathways where the enhanced recovery programme is paramount to their recovery. If you would like any further information please call 01535 292141.

Haematology / Private Patient’s Multi-Specialist: Ward 18  have a dedicated team who often care for patients at the end of life and have close working relationships with the palliative care team and Manorlands.
