BMI Healthcare’s Park Hospital in Nottingham has a vacancy for a Registered Nurse to join their team of staff in the Cath Lab department.

This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Registered Nurse Level 1 / Diploma / BSc in Nursing. Or
  • Registered Nurse Level 2  - Relevant Competencies for the role.
  • Evidence of relevant clinical professional development preferably evidenced by certification RN with valid NMC Registration.
  • Up-to-date knowledge in area of practice.
  • Awareness of NMC Code of Accountability.
  • Excellent clinical applied knowledge which is evidenced based and takes account of national best practice standards.
  • Previous experience working within the acute healthcare sector.
  • Experience of customer care, including interacting with challenging customers and situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills:
  • Good team worker.
  • Previous exprience within a Cath Lab setting preferred.   

Duties of this role include:

  • To assess patients’ individual needs, planning care within the framework of medical care, implementing and evaluating nursing care for all patients undergoing interventional cardiology investigations and procedures.
  • To receive and prepare patients for Cath Lab procedures ensuring appropriate investigations are done and accurately recording documentation.
  • To carry out nursing procedures and interventions as required, in accordance with BMI policies, and in consultation with other members of the Catheter Lab team.
  • To scrub and assist the Cardiologists with angiographic/angioplasty and pacing procedures when required.
  • Encouraging the development of research and audit based clinical practice.
  • To promote and maintain a caring and highly professional standard of nursing, meeting the needs of the patients undergoing Cath Lab procedures.
  • To act as a professional role model and have nursing responsibility for the Cardiac Catheter Lab with the lead cath lab nurse and Diagnostic Imaging/Cardiology Manager.
  • To have continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs; the development; implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
  • To promote multidisciplinary teamwork within the Catheter laboratory.
  • To ensure the safe and secure custody and administration of drugs and the maintenance and safe use of equipment.
