I help to make a difference!

Are you collaborative, caring and compassionate? Are you looking for a new challenge in an environment where no two days are the same? Are you looking to work for a company that offers support and development opportunities? If so, then this could be the role for you! Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work - if you’re looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day, then this is the place to be. As a healthcare provider, we recognise the fact that prisoners are a socially excluded group with complex healthcare needs that can often be associated with poor outcomes. We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history. Care UK is the Health in Justice market leader; 2 years ago we were managing 12 prison healthcare services and in 2019 we're providing healthcare services in over 40 prisons across the country. We can offer training and development in our friendly and supportive teams as well as full-time, part-time and bank opportunities and a range of other employee benefits.

Interested in clinical development?

We could give you the opportunity to develop in to a specialist role of your interest and benefit to the service i.e. ANP, BBV, sexual health, CBT, plastering, ILS, ALS, health promotion, phlebotomy, vaccinations, suturing, wound care, RCGP, and long term condition courses.

In return for your hard work you will...

Receive an annual salary up to £32,640 per annum – dependent on experience. You'll also get a number of benefits including: • Training and development opportunities • Company contributory pension scheme • 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays • Staff well-being and recognition scheme • Access to bank hours • CPD and re-validation support • Cycle to work scheme as well as online retail discounts • Online retail discounts • Two onsite gyms with FREE access • Onsite FREE parking

Next steps

If you are shortlisted, you will be contacted by Isabelle Bray, the Internal Recruiter for this role. The recruiter will submit your application to the hiring manager and in turn Isabelle will arrange an interview for you to attend at HMP Isle of Wight if the hiring manager feels that you are suitable for the job.

More information

There are opportunities for both full-time or part-time roles. The full-time hours are 37.5 hours per week and part-time is negotiable. Relocation Packages will be considered on a case by case basis for certain roles- mainland candidates only. Shift Pattern/working hours are on a rota basis, 7 days a week working in either the inpatient healthcare unit or primary healthcare centres. We welcome informal visits by appointment so please do contact us for more information and to arrange this. Please note that offers of employment are subject to Care UK Terms & Conditions and receipt of satisfactory references, enhanced DBS check and prison vetting. We also reserve the right to close the role early should a sufficient number of applications be received. At Care UK we actively promote diversity and equal opportunities.

As a Staff Nurse (RGN/RMN) you will be an integral part of the healthcare team and will be involved in everything from clinical triage to the evaluation of patient care and standards. You’ll carry out – and potentially develop – nurse led clinics, reviewing patient’s histories, undertaking relevant examinations and tests, organising any necessary treatment and referring patients to other healthcare professionals when you need to. You will also be working as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team, alongside the substance misuse and mental health teams. Are you new to prison healthcare? Do not worry... you will be supported and mentored throughout your first 6 months with Care UK by experienced teams of highly skilled nurses and practitioners as well as management.
