DHU Urgent Care (LLR)/Leicester City Health (LCH) are looking for dynamic, experienced Emergency Care Practitioners to work flexibly within the team providing high quality, responsive services. The post holder will work autonomously, undertake clinical assessment, make referrals as required and give advice to patients across a wide spectrum of clinical conditions within the services provided by DHU Urgent Care (LLR) and Leicester City Health.

Reporting to the Clinical Service Lead and working closely with GPs and other aligned healthcare professionals, the post holder will be a key player in delivering the priorities of the services across DHU LLR Urgent Care Division, whilst ensuring clinical focus in the delivery of evidence-based practice for patients.

The post holder will have experience of the Urgent and Emergency Care services and or General Practice, show a proactive approach with a desire to improve patient care and be a team-player. Key Responsibilities

 

  • To practice as an Emergency practitioner without direct supervision providing a clinical service within the work of the company.
  • To assess, diagnose, treat and refer appropriately patients requiring the clinical service and evaluate patient care as appropriate accordingly to service model and area allocated to work i.e. within Leicester City at the following premises Saffron Health, 612 Saffron Lane, Westcotes Health Centre, Fosse Road South and Belgrave Health Centre, Brandon Street. Seek advice of specialists as appropriate and follow this advice as appropriate.
  • Managing patients within specified time parameters (this will be communicated separately).
  • To exhibit excellent communication skills when dealing with patients and carers.
  • To have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively.
  • To maintain appropriate clinical records, ensuring that the documentation clearly demonstrates Guidelines for Records and Record keeping.
  • To prescribe medication under PGDs and work within the limitations of current extended legislation.
  • To work within the parameters of his/her skills and knowledge, to recognise the limitations to one’s own practice and to work within the bounds of one’s training and capability.
  • To maintain an awareness of developments in clinical practice.

The successful candidate will likely have:

  • Minimum of 2 years post reg Emergency Care Practitioner.
  • Experience in an Urgent Care setting either in A&E/WIC/UCC/First responder or similar.
  • Evidence of experience using advanced clinical examination & assessment skills within practice supported by the appropriate post registration qualification.
  • ECP Experience of autonomous practice working and multi-professional team working
  • Has experience in nurse led clinics or emergency care centres ,out of hours facilities or walk in centres Primary care experience – both adults and children.
  • Comfortable with risk – in other words has a low propensity to admit patients or direct patients to ED.
  • Understanding of the local care pathways, in particular understanding where patients can otherwise be directed to (outside of ED).
  • Able to use Adastra and Senior Clinician Module (training will be provided if needed)
