NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) provide vital services to the NHS, improving patient outcomes and saving lives. We have a fantastic opportunity for you to become part of our essential work by joining our Therapeutic Apheresis Services (TAS) team.

Our Therapeutic Apheresis Units provide specialist patient treatments from eight units based within NHS Trusts across England. Our teams deliver a range of therapeutic apheresis services; performing stem cell harvests, white cell depletions, red cell exchanges and providing plasma exchanges for neurology and haematology patients. We are a leading provider of extracorporeal photopheresis services.

As a Nurse Practitioner working with NHSBT you will work with a small team of nurses providing therapeutic apheresis services within the host Trust. The team comprise of a Consultant, band 7 lead nurse, band 6 nurses and a unit administrator. Success in this role is dependent on excellent communication skills, use of initiative and the ability to get the best out of others.

No prior knowledge of therapeutic apheresis is required because full in-house training will be given. You will be based in The Christie Hospital and also travel to regional hospitals to carry out patient treatments.

As well as your nursing registration, you will have a relevant degree or equivalent experience in an appropriate clinical area, such as Haematology, Neurology, Acute Medicine/Surgery, ICU/CCU or Haemodialysis/Apheresis. In addition, you should have experience of mentoring, teaching and leadership in a clinical/ward environment.

NHSBT is a great national organisation to work for and we offer a rewarding career with great benefits, plus every opportunity for development through a comprehensive in-house training package and support of academic study.

The normal working hours for this post are 75 hours per fortnight.
