Job Details

An exciting opportunity exists for registered nurses to join our Cancer Care department at The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH).

The RCH provides secondary, tertiary and quaternary care to children and young people and their families across Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and parts of South Australia. The RCH is the designated statewide provider of services including paediatric trauma, rehabilitation and forensic medicine. The hospital employs approximately 5,000 staff and has an annual budget of $620 million and operates out of a purpose-built, multi-award winning building. When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics.

Kookaburra - Cancer Care ward is part of The Royal Children's Hospital Children's Cancer Centre (CCC) - the largest partner in the Victorian Paediatric Integrated Cancer Services (PICS), and the only provider of complex children's cancer care and stem cell transplantation in Victoria.

The Kookaburra - Cancer Care team of specialist medical, nursing, research and allied health professionals provide care and services to meet the clinical, physical, social and psychological needs of patients and parents.

We currently have ongoing opportunities, both full time and part time roles with flexible rostering options, available.

RCH offers registered nurses a rich program of education and continuing professional development. Every week there are multiple opportunities to engage in education and professional development both within the oncology ward and collectively with nurses from across the campus. These opportunities include formal teaching, simulation training, leadership forums and opportunities to explore contemporary nursing issues with fellow nurses. In addition, RCH offers a generous program of continuing professional development funding, made possible through the RCH Foundation. This funding is available by application for nurses to travel to other centres, attend conference and participate in programs that support their achievement of goals determined within their annual performance development plan. As a partner with the VCCC, there are additional opportunities to engage in nursing development opportunities facilitated by this partnership.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
  • Demonstrated oncology experience in Paediatrics/Adults would be highly regarded
