About the job..

As a Registered Nurse you’ll be an integral part of the senior team at HMP Huntercombe, bringing your well-developed clinical skills, passion for care and leadership skills to the role. With plenty of primary care experience, you will be leading from the front, keeping your skills sharp by delivering some clinics directly and developing knowledge within the team to continually improve the care for patients at HMP Huntercombe. This is a leadership role and with your team leaders you will model a culture of compassion, care, courage, commitment, communication and competence. The role will include providing support and mentorship; drawing the best from our staff and improving the quality of care received by patients at HMP Huntercombe. As the Clinical Lead at HMP Huntercombe you will be innovative, bringing fresh ideas and solutions to the challenges of proving healthcare in a prison that is also changing its focus to a remand and resettlement prison; you will see men at beginning and end of their time in prisons, both are times of transition in the community and require a coordinated approach to continuity of care with other services. You’ll receive an annual salary of £36,000-£38,000 FTE - depending on experience; free mandatory training, indemnity cover, CPD and re-validation support. As well as a number of benefits including a company pension scheme, 25 days annual leave plus 8 public bank holidays (pro-rata) plus other benefits including cycle to work scheme and clinical development opportunities. Onsite benefits at HMP Huntercombe include access to an onsite gym, free parking and subsidised café/restaurant.

HMP Huntercombe is a category C adult male establishment holding a solely foreign national population in order to support government priorities on the deportation of foreign national offenders. Care UK manage the primary care and mental health services at HMP Huntercombe including long term conditions, health promotion, sexual health, smoking cessation, weight management groups, well-man clinics. Additional providers offer services in substance misuse, social care, podiatry and physiotherapy, dental and optical. Shift pattern/working hours are 07:45 – 18.30, weekdays and weekends 08:30 -16:30. HMP Huntercombe does not offer 24 hour healthcare and as such there are no night shifts. Please note that this role is subject to Care UK Terms & Conditions and offers of employment are subject to satisfactory receipt of references, enhanced DBS check and prison vetting.
