Based near Bedford, Yarl’s Wood Immigration and Removal Centre holds approx 400 detainees including women and children with varying religions and nationalities. As an innovative and enthusiastic team player, you will work as a member of our multi-disciplinary healthcare team carrying out competent care and treatment of patients within the prison environment.

As a RMN, you will liaise with the psychiatrist in the provision of regular handovers, perform clinical observations where necessary and your experience will ideally include acute or prison nursing. RGNs will be involved in undertaking primary triaging of all detainees with various medical issues engaging in treatment or referral as necessary. Previous Practice Nurse or A&E experience is desirable but not essential. The RSCN position is responsible for preventing ill health amongst children up to the age of 13, intervening where appropriate to provide holistic care in cases of acute and chronic illness. As HCA, ideally you will have experience within a healthcare setting and be educated to NVQ Level 2 in a related field (or be prepared to achieve this level).
