Qualified Nurse - Orthopaedics

Our orthopaedics ward is very special as it is part of the Regional Trauma Team.  This means we can offer great care to a diverse range of people including trauma patients, complex elective patients and elderly patients with a variety of holistic needs. As a member of the team, you’ll care for surgical patients including complex patients. You’ll also be involved in discharge planning.

The ward based Multi-Disciplinary Team includes Ortho-Geriatrician, Surgeons, Specialist Nurses, dedicated Physiotherapy and OT teams, Wound Surveillance Nurse, Discharge Pathway Manager, ERAS Nurse. The ward also has close links with the Orthopaedic Out Patients and Fracture Clinics.

You’ll receive support from an experienced and established senior nursing team, as well as a dedicated Practice Development Team. You will also benefit from a ward based induction, including orthopaedic competencies and extensive mentorship.

The Pendleton Suite, Sub-Acute Care facility, is a brand new and exciting development under the umbrella of the emergency village. It aims to focus on nurse led care for patients who are ready to go home and/or are completing emergency treatment on a short stay pathway from Emergency Assessment Medicine. At the facility, you’ll deliver excellent care as part of a large, dynamic and developing team.

The remit of this specialist unit means there are plenty of opportunities to acquire advanced nursing skills. We also offer a range of formal development programmes, including nurse led care, case load management and non-medical prescribing, to support your aspirations for career progression. You may also enjoy opportunities for rotational roles with the emergency village itself.
