Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior GI Clinical Nurse Specialist to join The Harley Street Clinic on a Permanent basis.

The Post holder will provide specialist nursing advice as clinical expert to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients /patients, relatives/carers with (and suspected of) GI cancer in collaboration with the multi professional team, in line with the local and national targets. This will require the post holder to contribute to both corporate and hospital initiatives and plans, particularly in respect of changes in patient care delivery and quality.

This is a Full Time, working 37.5 Hours a week, Mon - Fri flexible, Early & lates. NO NIGHTS

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To independently carry an ongoing caseload of patients, working with the interdisciplinary team to facilitate care for patients with GI cancer.
  • To act as patient advocate in line with the NHS plan and to actively apply in depth knowledge of holistic/socio-economic and cultural aspects of the care to clients within your specific speciality, acting as a role model and resource for patients, relatives and staff
  • To work as the 'team leader', sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of objectives for the service.
  • To effectively lead the GI CNS group of staff ensuring all quality, patient experience and key performance indicators are met for the team.
  • Act as a professional role model, providing direct and indirect clinical care, teaching and research within ward / department team demonstrating advanced practice.
  • Identify learning needs, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of education to meet identified need.
  • To work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues in cancer ensuring patients have access to and have details of an appropriate key worker throughout their cancer journey.
  • Contribute or lead to the investigation of complaints, accident reports and untoward incidents within the ward/ department in line with Organisation Policies and procedures and in conjunction with the Ward or Department Manager and implement recommendations for action.

Skills & Experience

  • Registered Nurse Level 1 - Extensive GI experience
  • NMC Registration and PREP requirements
  • Post Registration Qualification
  • Assessing & Mentoring qualification
  • Extensive Oncology experience
  • Experience of working within the Clinical Nurse Specialist role
  • Evidence of recognized management experience
  • Health & Safety training or similar
