In 2017, The Lister Hospital will be opening a brand new Inpatient Oncology/Acute Medical unit at the main hospital site to support the opening of the Leaders in Oncology Care (LOC) new chemo day case suite in the heart of Chelsea.

Job Description

If you are looking for an exciting new career opportunity within oncology, this could be just what you are looking for.

As the Clinical Nurse Specialist you will assist in the development and success of this new service. Supporting patients with expert advice to enhance their journey, you will also educate and train are nurses to provide a second to none oncology service. You will also ensure that the service utilises its resources to the fullest, whilst maintaining the highest quality of practice and care is provided

This is a full time role working 37.5hrs per week

The attractive and competitive salary for this role is £39,174 - £45,419 and will be dependent upon skills and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensures that they and others can appropriately assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care they provide
  • Provides patients, families and carers with expert, unbiased information regarding the causes, care and management of their condition
  • Facilitates a seamless patient journey from admission to discharge
  • Maximises revenue capture from patient care
  • Supports and promotes role modernisation and working in new ways
  • To educate patients and their families / carers as required and when a need has been identified
  • Continually seeks to develop own and staff clinical skills to meet service users expectations
  • Supports, mentors and acts as role model for junior staff assisting their learning and application of theory to practice
  • Help to maintain and provide a suitable learning environment
  • Develops clinical standards and monitors their effectiveness
  • Record, report and take immediate action regarding positive or negative feedback from patients/relatives/Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) member

Skills & Experience

We're looking for exceptional people to support this new service and you will have significant oncology/chemo experience which is supported by a post grad course in oncology or chemo in cancer care. It is also desirable that you have experience of working in a private patient setting and of working in a Clinical Nurse Specialist role previously.
