Deputy Head Nurse

Up to £38.8k depending on experience plus allowances

Worcester

Outstanding opportunity to build your existing leadership skills and develop your career. You’ll be working for a highly supportive employer in a uniquely complex and challenging clinical setting, delivering life-changing family-centred care.

About the role

We’ve proudly promoted our current Deputy to Head Nurse, so we’re now looking for someone to work alongside her in this responsible, rewarding role. If you already have experience of running a clinical team and you’re keen to make the most of your leadership potential, we’ll give you all the support and opportunity you need to develop.

That’s not to say that this won’t be a challenge. We have exceptionally high standards – nothing less will do for the life-limited children and families we look after. A positive role model, you’ll lead by example to ensure we consistently deliver high quality care: from organising staffing issues and reviewing care plans to training the team and driving forward improvements. As part of your role you’ll attend management team meetings and deputise for the Head Nurse, adding some valuable senior, strategic experience to your CV.

About you

First, we’re looking for leadership skills we can build on: you’ve shown you can take responsibility for implementing individual care plans and that you can organise and prioritise the work of a team. You have initiative, good communication skills and you understand how to maintain professional boundaries.

Our Worcester hospice is home to a confident, highly skilled clinical team, so, you’ll almost certainly need paediatric or palliative experience of your own to command their professional respect. We’re led by children’s needs and operate round the clock, so you should be flexible about working hours and ready to join an on-call rota.

In return

Acorns offers a competitive salary, 35 days’ holiday, free parking and pension contributions; if you move from the NHS, you can keep your current pension. We pride ourselves on our support and development so you can be confident that we’ll take care of your CPD.

About Acorns

You’ve probably heard of Acorns but you might not realise the extent of our work. In the last year, we’ve supported over 840 children and more than 1060 families, including those who are bereaved. We offer a network of specialist care for life-limited and life-threatened children and their families, across the heart of England, both in their own homes and in our three purpose-built hospices.
