Job Description
As the Senior Staff Nurse you will be responsible for providing high quality nursing through assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating care for patients within the ICU unit. You will be required to effectively working within the team, supervising, coaching and developing junior staff and deputising for the Senior Nursing team when necessary, as well as being confident working independently. As the successful candidate you will promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care and the services offered within the ICU Unit.
Salary: £35822 - £40401 per annum (Dependent upon experience) + 9% shift enhancement
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Days, Nights, Weekends, Public Holidays)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess, plan and deliver care, based on individual patient and family needs
- Act as a clinical role model for all members of staff, demonstrating best practice at all times
- Supervise and direct junior team members, deputizing for senior staff in their absence
- Drive high standards of care, assisting with promoting development initiatives and assisting with coaching and development of the team
- Undertake extended roles such as IV cannulation and phlebotomy
- Promote a learning environment at all times
Skills & Experience
- RGN with valid NMC PIN
- Several years' experience within a critical care setting
- Mentorship & preceptorship experience, and a desire to work towards an ENB 998 certificate
- Completion of the critical care course or equivalent
- Phlebotomy skills are desirable

Located in the heart of London's esteemed medical district, the newly-refurbished Princess Grace Hospital offers a wide range of medical and surgical specialities. Supported by world-class doctors from leading London teaching hospitals, the hospital has 129 beds, including a purpose-built intensive care unit, catering for Level 3 patients. Our eight fully-equipped theatres include three laminar flow theatres for orthopaedic surgery and a robotic surgery suite along with some of the most advanced radiological diagnostic facilities in the country.
The Intensive Care Unit was opened in 2011 and contains 9 beds made up of 4 open bays and 5 single side rooms. It cares for both level 2 and 3 patients and the typical case mix includes elective colorectal and HBP, complex urology, spinal surgery and will also accommodate unplanned and medical admissions. Modern care delivery equipment is present throughout the unit including the latest generation of ventilators, patient monitors, cardiac output monitoring, renal replacement devices and near patient testing facilities.
