Job Description

About the Hospital
Nuffield Health is Britain’s largest healthcare charity. We’re balancing our social values with strong business discipline to help the UK get healthy and stay that way. We’re all about great people, too – recruiting and nurturing talent in a supportive, development-led setting.

Founded in 1957, Nuffield Hospital Bournemouth is an exceptionally caring environment with 41 beds, new Cardiac suite, 3 theatres an endoscopy room and 4 treatment rooms. Our service provision is varied, covering everything from outpatients and minor procedures through to major surgical specialties.

About the person and the role
The ideal candidate will be a registered nurse with the appropriate nursing and midwifery council (nmc) governing body. They will have a qualification in teaching and assessment and preferably a professional management qualification e.g. NVQ level 3 or 4/ leadership course and ideally a post graduate qualification or working towards. They will be currently occupying a Sister/Charge Nurse post in an acute hospital environment with surgical experience and have staff and budget management experience. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate strong leadership qualities.

Responsible for the day to day operational running of the Inpatient wards, we are looking for that special person who can balance maintaining the high standards and systems already set as well as bring fresh new ideas to our business. They will be required to lead, motivate and supervise a team of qualified and support staff, ensuring the service provided to patients during their pathway, is robust and seamless.

Working closely with the Sisters reporting into this post, the successful applicant will be involved in, resource management, business management and business planning and development, working alongside the consultants in this area to promote and develop the service. They will also oversee the HR remit for the area including but not limited to staff selection, development, deployment, performance review, attendance management, resolution of employee relations issues.

Finally they will support other clinical areas outside of the wards and at times be the person in charge (PIC), participate in the clinical on call rota and when requested will deputise for the Matron (shared out with other NR7 or equivalent posts).

We offer continuous professional development and a competitive salary and benefits package.
We have a duty to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for disclosure on successful candidates.
