Spire Edinburgh Hospital is one of the largest private hospitals in the UK and the busiest surgical hospital in the Spire Healthcare group. The hospital is at the forefront of technology in the independent sector, regularly pioneering new surgical techniques such as robotic surgery.  Spire Edinburgh Hospitals are made up of Spire Murrayfield Hospital, Spire Shawfair Park Hospital and the Spire Livingston Clinic.  Combined, our facilities include 8 operating theatres (including a Laser and a Cardiac Catheterisation suites), 73 single private rooms, 10 day-case beds and an oncology suite plus all the supporting services such as MRI and CT imaging, physiotherapy, Pharmacy and Pathology.

This role will challenge both your clinical and business awareness. Ready to drive excellence and do the right thing, you will be a key member of the perioperative department, assessing care needs and evaluating care programmes for patients undergoing theatre procedures while managing and developing theatre staff. At the same time, you’ll influence the hospital’s consultant strategy by developing a partnership relationship with consultants based on mutual respect and informed by business data. We’ll look to you to ensure that requests made by consultants are in the best interests of patients.

A registered nurse or qualified operating department practitioner, you will have experience of working as a perioperative practitioner in and across multidisciplinary teams. This will include analysing staff and theatre management problems and coming up with viable solutions as well as challenging consultants to influence evidence-based practice. A supervisory or management qualification would be desirable. Competence in surgery, anaesthetic or post-anaesthesia will be essential. Your passion for putting patients at the heart of everything you do will shine out.

Become one of our people, and we offer great training and development opportunities together with an excellent range of benefits, including a personal pension scheme, private medical insurance and a range of entertainment and retail discounts.
