Our client is an outstanding and expanding co-educational independent school situated in the heart of East London, educating pupils from the ages of three to eleven years.

A vacancy has arisen for a School Nurse for a September start. A suitably experienced candidate would be responsible for all aspects of pupil and staff health and welfare within the School working Monday to Friday 8.15 am - 4.30 pm. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic experienced and flexible individual to join their dedicated and friendly professional team. 1 - Basic Purpose of the Job
Working to provide clinically effective, high quality service nursing care to pupils and staff; and
first aid care to all members of the School community.
Additional services to be offered will incorporate the following provisions:
§ Telephone consultations and support/guidance on matters of emotional wellbeing
§ Guidance and support on counselling policy formation
§ Support and co-working with GP and Health Centre team to maintain pupil and staff wellbeing
and to ensure policies and procedures are followed effectively
§ Consultative support to other members of staff on matters related to emotional health and
wellbeing
2 - Main Duties
Nursing
Provide a high standard of service within NMC guidelines to pupils, members of staff and any
visitors while on site. This will include:
s organisation and running of daily surgeries during space of duty
s provision of first aid and emergency care and treatment as necessary
s management of the immediate care of pupils with sports injuries
s provision of a confidential listening and health advice service as appropriate
s following good practice and specific directives on immunization procedures relevant to the
School population and individuals
s operation of procedures for control of infectious diseases
s following procedures for the safe disposal of clinical waste
s be aware of and following recommended procedures for safe storage, usage and disposal of
medical supplies and drugs
s maintaining treatment room stocks, hygiene and tidiness
Health Education
s supporting health education throughout the School population
s keeping up to date with current health promotion initiatives
s contributing to the programme of first aid and clinical development for boarding house
matrons.
Administration
s maintenance of medical records - accurately, confidentially and safely
s keeping nursing records to a high standard enabling the accurate and rapid retrieval of
information
s recording dispensing of drugs following drugs protocols
s maintaining general office procedures.
Health and Safety
s being involved and aware of health and safety issues within the School affecting staff, pupils
or the environment
s keeping records of reported accidents.
Liaison
s working closely with other members staff and parents to ensure seamless and continuous
care.
