About the job:

As a Substance Misuse Nurse, you’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working to support and motivate individuals to take control of their lives and to make changes to overcome dependence on substances and move onto a life free of offending.
You will be carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recover plans and communicate the full range of treatment options available to the service users, including on a 1-1 basis.

HMP Featherstone is a category C adult resettlement prison and holds 703 prisoners from age 21+. We are a well-established team, offering a varied and exciting opportunity to work and develop clinical skills in a primary care service for male prisoners aged 21 years and upwards. Services offered include phlebotomy, nurse triage, chronic disease management, substance misuse interventions and health promotion. We also provide an emergency response service, and working hours are between 07:45 and 18:30, 7 days a week. There is a requirement to work one weekend out of every three.

This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours a week, over 4 shifts, based on a 7 day week. The salary for this role is £22,000 - £29,000 - dependent on experience. Working hours are between 07:45 and 18:30. There is a requirement to work weekends, typically one weekend out of every three.

About you

Preferably with previous experience in Substance Misuse, you will be a Registered Nurse (Adult or Mental Health) with a passion for developing your skills in an ever changing environment. You will need a flexible approach, and must be able to work within a team that encourages new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.
