BMI Priory Hospital in Birmingham is part of BMI Healthcare, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country. 

We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in the Outpatients department.

This is a FULL time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • A basic standard of general education with proven literacy and numeracy
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
  • NVQ level 2 in care desirable
  • Phlebotomy skills desirable but not essential
  • Good IT skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Team player

Duties of this role include:

  • To provide an effective, customer focused, high quality, multi-speciality nursing service, under the direction of a registered nurse, to all users of the outpatient department across two sites.
  • To perform nursing duties as required for the clinics within the limits of training and assessed competencies.
  • To ensure all specimens are safely transported to the Pathology department in a timely manner.
  • Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
  • To work as part of a team and communicate effectively with all outpatient users.
  • To assist in the development of the outpatient department and take personal ownership and responsibility for tasks.
  • Assist with the orientation of all new staff.
  • To have a flexible approach to managing change.
  • To ensure that charges generated are accurately recorded, thus contributing to the overall profitability of the hospital.
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Attend appropriate training sessions to improve scope of nursing practice.
  • Attend all mandatory training sessions.
