We are looking for a Chief Governance and Risk Officer to join our executive leadership team and continue to develop our service and clinical standards across our facilities in the southern region.


Job Description

The Regional Chief Governance and Risk Officer is the expert advisor on clinical governance and risk management, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, national and local policy. The role will assume responsibility and accountability for the following:

  • Development and implementation of the regional Risk Management Strategy, advocating and sponsoring risk control and prevention strategies that integrate risk management consideration into everyday management.
  • Leading and supporting the regional facilities, clinical and non-clinical leads and Clinical Directors in the delivery of clinical governance, risk management and compliance priorities across the region.
  • Representing the region within HCA's corporate quality, governance and safety structures, ensuring that the HCA governance, risk and quality strategy is embedded in all facilities within the region.



Duties & Responsibilities

  • Working with HCA corporate Audit Committee and facility leads in coordinating and supporting the delivery of the clinical audit programme.
  • Ensuring all regional services are legally registered within the statutory and regulatory frameworks and are meeting the CQC standards and outcomes and all future regulatory assessment/investigation approaches.
  • Providing expert advice and support to the Senior Management Team and Exec Team on matters relating to such areas as risk and incident management, regulatory compliance, complaints resolution and health and safety.
  • Liaising with the Patient Experience Manager to support the process of monitoring patient experience.
  • Leading the clinical audit strategy, providing regular updates to the senior leadership team about progress and areas of focus
  • Laising with legal department on matters pertaining to liability
  • To oversee the development, implementation and management of the clinical audit programme, encouraging inter-departmental working where appropriate.
  • To ensure that national, corporate and local priorities identified through the clinical governance and risk structures are incorporated into the audit programme.
  • To ensure that a rigorous process is embedded at the regional facilities for the development, ratification, dissemination and review of local policies, procedures and guidelines in adherence to HCAs policy for the creation of policies and procedures



Skills & Experience

  • Postgraduate qualification/Masters or equivalent in-depth training and/or significant experience in risk, governance or compliance
  • Continuing professional development in areas such as; root cause analysis, legislation , risk management, clinical governance
  • Proven ability to analyze complex problems/ information from a variety of sources and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions to address them;
    Experience of managing and updating large, complex databases.
  • Ability to think and plan strategically, tactically and creatively, and to prioritize work programs in the face of competing demands;
