This is a full time position : 37.50 hours per week (long days/nights)

Job Description

We are currently looking to recruit a Sister/Charge Nurse to join our highly skilled team of Nurses.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience within Neuro, Renal and general intensive care to take the next step in their career. You will be required to act as an expert practitioner and role model, assisting your junior colleagues to develop advanced knowledge and skills in order to benefit the treatment and care of critically ill patients in our hospital.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Independently assess patient care requirements and deliver planned nursing care in agreement with the patient or the main carer
  • Capably co-ordinate the care for a patient, participating within the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and supervising junior staff / health care assistant / student and display the skill to recognise and take appropriate action in emergency situations
  • To assess, plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of critical care nursing. To work within a team, supervising and directing junior staff and deputising for Sisters in their absence.
  • Develop and promote protocols for the recognition and the management of critically ill patients.
  • To provide clinical leadership and line management for all nursing and support staff.
  • With the assistance of the Modern matron ensure the implementation of new initiatives within critical care service.
  • With the assistance of the Modern matron to actively lead, participate and contribute to research and audits projects within the service.
  • Develop and monitor discharge planning for long term ICU patients transferred to the ward environment.

Skills & Experience

  • Registered General Nurse with NMC pin
  • Intensive Care qualification
  • Teaching and mentorship qualification
  • Certificate, Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • Extensive experience as a Senior Nurse within a critical care setting
  • Experience working with cardiac patients
  • Team leadership and staff motivation
  • Computer literate
