Competitive salary and benefits

Our client is an independent co-educational day school for children from 2 to 11 years old, standing in a wonderful 30-acre site in the Warwickshire countryside, on the outskirts of the beautiful town of Stratford upon Avon. This is a vibrant, forward-thinking school, based on traditional values, which offers a diverse range of opportunities within a broad and balanced curriculum delivered through teaching in small groups.

A vacancy has arisen for a School Nurse for a September start. The School Nurse will be responsible for the medical needs of pupils whilst in school and provide pastoral and wellbeing support in order to help reduce absenteeism, improve children's health and support learning. The School Nurse will also provide first aid and injury assessment for all members of the school community. They seek for individuals with enthusiasm and energy, who are approachable and empathetic, with both the desire and ability to make a difference.

Medical Care
· Provide first aid, emergency care and treatment as necessary to all members of the school community, including pupils, staff and visitors
· Communicate and consult with parents regarding their child's health condition(s) and medical needs
· Administer prescribed medications for pupils, maintaining full and accurate records in line with school procedures
· Be responsible for maintaining fully stocked, in date, first aid kits and associated supplies around the school

· Coordinate the School's immunisation programme and annual audiology testing
· Promote health education throughout the school population
· Attend all 'home' sports fixtures to provide medical support when necessary

Pastoral and Support
· Assist in managing and delivering pastoral support to all pupils
· Provide a confidential counselling and health advice service. This will involve offering counselling and support sessions to pupils for a range of issues including academic problems, difficulties with peers, emotional issues, parent relationship problems and bereavement. The post holder will refer children to other mental health professionals where the level of intervention required lies outside their expertise
· Support home/school links by developing appropriate constructive relationships with parents and carers
· Assist class teachers in the development and implementation of behavioural support plans, in consultation with the SENCo
· Liaise with other pastoral staff, form tutors, teaching staff, the Designated Safeguarding Leads and other staff to ensure a comprehensive care programme for each child
· Liaise with other professionals, such as GPs and the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), and attend multi-agency meetings when necessary

Documentation and Record Keeping
· Develop and write Health Care Plans for all pupils with medical needs, liaising with parents and medical professionals as appropriate. Ensure these documents and procedures are communicated to teaching staff, parents and other professionals and are reviewed regularly, and at least annually
· Keep accurate first aid records, counselling case notes, administration of medication forms and other paperwork relating to the provision of treatment within school
· Draft and communicate Risk Assessments for pupils attending school with a serious medical or mobility issue (whether that condition is temporary or chronic)
· Review and update the School's Pupil Health and Medical Care Policy and First Aid Policy, and input into the School's Accessibility Plan, in conjunction with Compliance and Health & Safety Manager
· Keep all medical and wellbeing documentation and case records secure in accordance with the Data Protection Act
