Job Details

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self motivated and experienced nurse with specialist palliative care experience to join and lead the inpatient unit at Cynthia Spencer Hospice, Northampton. This post is full time 37.5 hours per week, but for the right candidate we will consider part time hours. Please ensure this is stipulated in your application form.

Cynthia Spencer Hospice has 16 inpatient beds, and is part of the Specialist Palliative Care (SPC) service in Northamptonshire. The applicant will have specialist knowledge and skills in palliative care and demonstrate energy and true enthusiasm for the speciality as well as strong leadership and management skills. Experience of working in partnership with charities would be an advantage.

The postholder ideally will have recent experience of holiding a Sister/Charge Nurse post or above within an inpatient or community environment. The postholder will have some experience of performance and budgetary management and managing the performance and development of staff.

NHFT as a whole has recently been rated by the CQC as Good (March 2017), with Specialist Palliative Care identified as Good overall, with an Outstanding for Care. The new Matron will be instrumental in working with the team to ensure we continue to strive for improvement.

Applicants who are shortlisted will be invited to an assessment day. Therefore it is essential that successful candidates are available for a minimum of a half day but could be up to a full day. Applicants will be required to complete numeracy and literacy as part of the interview process.
