About the Job

Care UK is currently looking for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) who has an independent prescribing qualification to work at our new, innovative service called Practice Assist on a part time or bank basis. Practice Assist is a service that is based in Southall and works in partnership with GPs across the country, helping to improve access for patients and reduce the increasing demands on GP Practices. Patients call their local GP Surgery as normal and then speak to a receptionist who takes down their symptoms. If there is a clear requirement for a face-to-face appointment (e.g. vaccination / examination), they will be booked in directly. The majority of patients calling for a GP appointment can be managed over the phone. These patients are given a call back within the hour of their appointment time with a qualified Practice Assist GP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner who will try to resolve their problems remotely, whether that be via advice, electronic prescriptions or by making further referrals back to their GP Practice or to other services. The clinicians are able to access the patient’s full medical record. The service is open from 8am – 8pm, Monday – Friday, so we are looking for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner who can be flexible to work between these times. Within this job you will be responsible for assessing, treating and discharging all patients autonomously and over the phone. You may also need to refer patients onwards from time to time. Please be aware that this job will also include prescribing for patients as required. If you have the passion and desire to be part of an innovative new service whilst reducing the pressures on GP Practice then look no further, as this could be the job for you!
