BMI Huddersfield Hospital in Huddersfield is part of BMI Healthcare, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country. 

We have an opportunity for a Lead Theatre Practitioner - Recovery to join their team of staff in the Theatre department.

This is a PART time role for 30 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Registered Practitioner with NMC or HCPC registration with anaesthetic and/or recovery room qualifications & competencies (essential)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (essential)
  • Ability to work as part of a team (essential)
  • ENB 998 and/or equivalent mentorship course (essential)
  • Ability to support and lead a team (essential)
  • Basic competence and intended/ actual qualification in Endoscopic Care and Decontamination and/or Operators Course in Decontamination.
  • Evidence of success in working in partnership with Consultants to explore and challenge existing practices while maintaining and enhancing the existing services and standards (essential)
  • ALS trained and competent (essential)
  • Experience of applying clinical reasoning skills across a range and varied patient case mix and competent across a range of skills.

Duties of this role include:     

  • To have shared responsibility for the leadership and operational management of the Theatre Department.
  • To ensure that standards of patient care are consistently maintained at all times in accordance with agreed operational policies as a skilled member of the senior theatre nursing team.
  • To assist with the management of the theatre department under the direction of the Theatre Manager.
  • Assist in the delivery of patient care
  • Act as Lead for the recovery room staff both professionally and as first line manager
  • Contribute to quality improvement
  • Develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of others and self
  • Promote best evidence based practice within own scope of practice
  • Apply legislation, policies and procedures correctly.
